Family relationships strengthen upon graduating from the Surviving Adolescence program We recently celebrated the graduation of our second Surviving Adolescence program. Building on the tremendous success of our first program, this program also achieved outstanding results and positive feedback from the parents participating. The Surviving Adolescence program, which runs for seven weeks on Tuesday evenings, is designed to enhance the relationships between parents and their adolescents. Understanding that raising children, particularly adolescents, can be incredibly challenging, the program provides valuable support and strategies to help parents navigate this critical stage of development. Our recent parent graduates expressed how transformative the program has been. Many described it as "eye-opening" and "enlightening." One parent shared, "I felt supported and heard, and I learned how to communicate better without conflict, which allowed me to feel calmer when tackling complex issues." We are immensely proud of the parents and their commitment to both the program and improving their relationships with their adolescents. Reaching out for help is often one of the most difficult steps, and their willingness to engage in this process is commendable. A young person who recently graduated from the Step Up Latrobe Valley program, that runs alongside and complements the Surviving Adolescence program, noticed a huge shift in his relationship with his Mum. “We are able to talk about things and come up with solutions and I feel like mum is happier.” he said, following them both successfully graduating from the Ladder programs.
