Igniting inspiration with an industry tour of the local fire station As part of our ongoing exploration of community services and career pathways, program participants attended the CFA Morwell Fire Station. Participants were given a guided tour of the facility, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the daily operations of a professional fire station. "The tour showed us how much work goes on behind the scenes. I have a lot more respect for what firefighters do now." – Ryan, 16 One of the most inspiring aspects of the visit was the opportunity to speak with the firefighters themselves. They generously shared their personal stories - how they came from a variety of backgrounds including teaching, farming, electrical work, and building, before making the transition into firefighting. Each journey was unique and hearing how the firefighters found their path into the profession was both motivating and eye-opening for our group. "I didn’t realise so many firefighters came from other jobs. It made me think differently about my own future." – Ash M, 16 It was a powerful reminder that career paths are not always linear, and that diverse skills and life experiences can all contribute to making a difference in the community. "Hearing their stories made me realise it's okay not to have everything figured out right away. You can try different things and still find your path." – Ryan L, 23 We extend our thanks to the CFA Morwell Fire Station for their time, hospitality, and the valuable insights they shared with our participants. "Talking to the firefighters was really inspiring. They were so passionate about helping people – it made me want to find a job where I can give back too." – AJ, 18 "I used to think firefighting was just about putting out fires, but now I see it’s about teamwork, community, and staying calm under pressure." – Lilly, 19 Manage Cookie Preferences
