A group of Ladder Alumni were in for a memorable experience as they toured the MCG, with the AFL Preliminary games and Grand Final just around the corner. Alumni members were joined by Michael and Marcus from the AFL Players’ Association (AFLPA), whose support, presence and experience of the game enhanced this event. The young people were so appreciative of the AFLPA staff for giving their time to be with the Alumni and for the ongoing support from all AFL and AFLW players.

“Having the AFL Players’ Association spend time with us showed me that people really care about our futures.” – Makenzie

For many of our young people, once-in-a-lifetime experiences like these don’t present themselves often or at all. These positive experiences give them hope, help them grow into resilient, healthier adults and have the power to address the long-term impacts of adverse early childhood experiences.

“I’m grateful Ladder gives us opportunities like this, it keeps me motivated to stay on track.” – Jachery

The MCG tour served as a reminder that success is not only about what you achieve individually, but also about the people and communities that walk alongside you.

“It reminded me that life isn’t just about challenges, it’s about celebrating wins and making connections too.” – Lachlan
