Ladder participants spend a memorable day connecting with the GIANTS AFLW team Recently, a group of young people from the Ladder Step Up Sydney program had the incredible opportunity to visit ENGIE Stadium, home of our community partners the GIANTS. Participants were invited for a special lunch with the AFLW team. This event fostered a sense of belonging and connection while celebrating the importance of community—values perfectly embodied by both the GIANTS and Ladder. Upon arrival, the participants were warmly greeted by the GIANTS team, immediately making them feel special and safe—an essential aspect that is often challenging to achieve for young people. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and anticipation as everyone gathered to enjoy a shared lunch together. During the meal, the young people engaged in meaningful conversations with the AFLW players, sharing stories and laughter that created a sense of camaraderie. Comments from the participants reflected the enjoyment of their experience: “I learned so much from the day,” one remarked. Another shared, “It was a fun day out meeting and talking to the players,” while another added, “This is something I'll never forget”. The feedback highlighted not just the enjoyment of the day, but also the meaningful connections formed in a supportive environment that the players created. Following lunch, the young people were treated to a tour of the stadium facilities, providing them with a behind-the-scenes look at the heart of the GIANTS’ operations. To top off the day, each participant received a bag full of GIANTS gifts, courtesy of The GIANTS Foundation, leaving them with tangible memories of this unforgettable experience. A heartfelt thank you goes to Alicia Eva, one of Ladder's Board Members, who played a crucial role in facilitating this special event. We would also like to congratulate Alicia for celebrating her 75th game yesterday and extending for another year with the GIANTS. The efforts of Alicia and the entire GIANTS AFLW team were instrumental in making the day incredibly special for our young people. It was a day filled with fun, connection, and inspiration, reminding us all of the power of community and the importance of creating safe spaces for young people to thrive. Manage Cookie Preferences
